Fast forward and we’re closer to the end of the year so we decided to take a look at the podcast ecosystem. Here’s what we’ve learned so far:

From our data, there have been over 66 original podcast shows that have produced in Ghana. For context, an “original” podcast show is a podcast that is recorded for podcast distribution and not a recorded radio program that has been turned into a podcast recording.

Kenya Opens Local Smartphone Assembly Plant

Kenya has finally unveiled its first local smartphone assembly plant in the country.

The East Africa Device Assembly Kenya Limited (EADAK) was unveiled by President William Ruto and is a joint venture of local Mobile Network Operators including Safaricom Jamii Telecommunications and Chinese firm Shenzhen TeleOne Technology.

Digital Payments Network MFS Africa Announces Rebrand to Onafriq

MFS Africa, Africa’s largest digital payments network, has announced its brand new identity with a new name: Onafriq.

Data Insight: Electric Vehicles in Ghana

According to data from Ghana’s revenue authority, the country from 2017 to 2021 imported a total of 17,660 electric vehicles with the majority of the imports being Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV).
