What’s happened this Week:

  • Agritech startup Farmerline expands to Ivory Coast

  • YellowCard partners with Jack Dorsey’s “Block” company for remittances

  • and more!

The EV space in Ghana is small but growing and it got a much-needed boost this week.

One of the leaders in the space is the EV startup SolarTaxi. The company has been making strides including inking a deal with Jumia for use of their Solar Cargo vans.

This week, the Solar Taxi CEO in a tweet said that Solar Taxi had been approved for an assembling license from the Government of Ghana under the government flagship Ghana Automotive Development policy to locally assemble Electric cars in Ghana

It’s a big deal because Solar Taxi will now receive special benefits including a waiver of imports of car parts for their EV vehicles.

As said before, the EV space in Ghana is still quite small with a number of other EV startups like Kofa and Mana Mobility working on EV bikes for the masses.
